all right then, now that i've read jill's comment I think I might have to say - whatever your heart desires! of course that was always the answer - but Summers actually kind of makes a super cute middle name! Especially when paired with Charlotte and Hoffman (good choice!) haha no really. I dig it. I guess Smith is just a bit too depressing for me as a middle name, so i'm pretty anti-no middle name. Except in your case. Although I guess I still secretly am still rooting for a middle name, then she can choose whether she keeps summers or "insert middle name of choice here". Done. I'll keep my vote the same. lvoe you!
I liked having a middle name growing up and I kept my maiden name too. On my license I just have two middle names. It really hasn't been a pain or a problem, as a middle name isn't necessary for most paperwork and signatures. I like having both names.

No middle name b/c then she will become Charolette Summers Hoffman (that way you know you would like your in-laws) when she gets married.
I love that I got to keep DeYoung and didn't have to worry about dropping an important part of who I was when I got married.
